  Tóth K.: Pain control in patients with advance cancer – By clock or „as needed”?

  The main message of the article is that pain should not be accepted. The most important goal, that the patient should experience as little pain as possible. The most controversial question, the dosage of the pain-killer, if it should be set by clock, or „as needed”. The chronic pain control is successful, if it prevents pain, so it is given in accurate intervals. The article highlights the concept of breaktrough pain, the indications and dosage of traditional opioid agents. However notes the lately given fast-acting morphine derivates too, and also emphasizes the holistic approach of pain.

  The aim of this paper is to introduce the main elements of the newly published pharmaceutical care guideline. After short introduction of the problem and prevalence of COPD in Hungary the roles of pharmacists in the therapeutic management of the disease is described. The readers will get familiar with the selected recommendations regarding the general roles of the pharmacist, risk factors and the assessment of the patient’s symptoms, disease control, exacerbations and comorbidities, therapeutic options, the effective and safe use of different active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmacovigilance and drug interactions, patient education and inhalators, adherence and documentation. Furthermore the algorithm of the pharmaceutical care events is presented in the paper.

  Tatár Gy.: The pharmaceutical aspects of Maria Theresa’s sanitary decree „Generale Normativum in re Sanitatis” introduces in 1770 and those of the medical bills of 1793.

  The author’s goal was to present the pharmaceutical aspects of the Sanitary Decree „Generale Normativum in Re Sanitatis” (1770) issued by Maria Theresa (ruler of the House of Habsburg between 1740-1780) and such aspects of the Decree which completed the aforementioned Sanitary Decree in 1773. This was the first in-depth regulation in Hungary pertaining to pharmaceutics. The most important provisions set out in the Decree aiming at the development of pharmaceutics are as follows: Only those pharmacists were granted a license to establish a pharmacy who had performed the prescribed period of training in a pharmacy and afterwards took the exam at the board of examiners comprising of the professors of the Medical Faculty. The pharmacy leader is responsible for the work of the employees. The pharmacy leader shall monitor the quality of the drugs and those that do not fulfill the regulations shall be eliminated from the stock of the pharmacy. When preparing a drug both the professional rules and the prescription have to be complied with. Full compliance with all rules during storage and dispensing process of hazardous drugs is the responsibility of the pharmacist. The pharmacist is not entitled to heal.

  The article also deals with the sanitary bill of 1793 which would have come into force in Hungary. In the same year a sanitary bill was prepared for the Principality of Transylvania which was different in many aspects from the Hungarian bill. The provisions of both bills referring to pharmaceutical issues are also presented in the article. The aforementioned bills did not become law.
